What are the applications and advantages of MP Resin?

Jan 23, 2026

MP Resin, with the full name Vinyl Chloride-Vinyl Isobutyl Ether Copolymer Resin, also known as VC Copolymer MP Resin or Vinyl Chloride Copolymer Resin, is produced through the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer, vinyl isobutyl ether monomer, and other raw and auxiliary materials. It is primarily used in anticorrosive coatings and composite printing inks. MP resin is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and excels in flexibility, heat resistance, UV stability, alkali resistance, and chalking resistance.

Our MP resin is equivalent in performance to Laroflex® MP resin.

Applications:

MP Resin for Inks

As an excellent binder for composite printing inks, MP resin is used across a wide range of fields and offers the following advantages:

• Good solubility: Soluble in most common ink solvents, including aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, and esters, with high transparency in solution.

• Excellent compatibility: Easily blends with other ink binders such as CPP, EVA, and CEVA resins to enhance performance.

• High dispersibility: Exhibits favorable dispersing and wetting properties for pigments and dyes, ensuring full color development and transferability.

• Superior adhesion: The polymer chains contain abundant ether bonds, providing strong adhesion to plastic films such as BOPP, OPP, and PET.

• Good stability: The resin contains no reactive double bonds or saponifiable ester bonds, and the chlorine atoms in the molecular chain are highly stable. This imparts strong resistance to heat, light, weathering, yellowing, and chalking to the ink layers.

MP Resin for Coatings

The anticorrosion performance of MP resin exceeds that of chlorosulfonated polyethylene and chlorinated rubber coatings, making it widely applicable in the following areas:

• Industrial anticorrosion coatings: e.g., factory buildings, equipment, pipelines, storage tanks, municipal engineering, ports, and harbors.

• Marine coatings: Suitable for various parts of ship hulls, resistant to sun exposure and seawater erosion.

• Transportation paints: Used for containers, transport machinery, and tankers for hazardous chemicals.

• Primers and topcoats for light metals: Applications include garage doors/windows, roof gutters, balconies, lamp posts, and road guardrails.

• Major key projects: Such as bridges, offshore engineering, and energy infrastructure.
