Acrylic resin is a resin formed by copolymerization of acrylic ester and methyl methacrylate and other olefinic monomers. By selecting different resin structures, different formulations, production processes and solvent compositions, acrylic resins of different types, different properties and different uses can be synthesized. According to different structures and film-forming mechanisms, acrylic resin can be divided into thermoplastic acrylic resin and thermosetting acrylic resin.

The main absorption peak of acrylic resin synthesized by copolymerization of acrylate and methacrylate monomer is outside the range of solar spectrum, so the acrylic resin coating has excellent light resistance and outdoor aging performance.

Thermoplastic acrylic resin will not be further crosslinked during film forming process, so its relative molecular weight is larger, it has good light and color retention, water resistance and chemical resistance, fast drying, convenient construction, easy to recoat and rework, and aluminum powder prepared by aluminum powder has high whiteness and good positioning. Thermoplastic acrylic resin is widely used in automobile, electrical appliances, machinery, construction and other fields.

Thermosetting acrylic resin refers to a functional group in the structure, which forms a network structure by reacting with the added amino resin, epoxy resin, polyurethane and other functional groups in the coating. The molecular weight of thermosetting resin is relatively low. The thermosetting acrylic coating has excellent fullness, glossiness, hardness, solvent resistance, weather resistance, no discoloration and no yellowing when baking at high temperature. The most important application is to manufacture amino-acrylic coating with amino resin, which is widely used in automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, coil steel and other products.

According to production mode, it can be divided into:

1. lotion polymerization is the reactive polymerization of monomer, initiator and reaction solvent. Generally, the solid content of resin is 50% of the resin solution! It is a solvent resin containing about 50%, which generally reacts with the solution of benzene (toluene or xylene), ester (ethyl acetate, butyl acetate), generally single or mixed! Solid lotion acrylic resin is solvent invariant! Generally, the solvent selection and product performance are different! It usually has a certain color number! The glass transition temperature is low because the reaction is usually carried out without methyl acrylate! Solids This type of resin can have a higher solid content, up to 80%! It can be used as high solid coating, and the production is simple! However, due to the invariability of solvent, transportation is not convenient!

2. Suspension polymerization is a relatively complex production process, which is generally used to produce solid resin! Solid acrylic resin, which is usually polymerized downward with methyl acrylate! Acrylates without methyl groups usually have certain functional groups! The reaction in the polymerization reaction is not easy to control and easy to stick to the pot! The general process is to add monomers, initiators and additives into the reactor, and then add distilled water for reaction! After a certain time and temperature reaction, wash with water and then dry! Filter, etc! The production control of its products is more strict! If you can't do anything in the middle, the product will have a certain impact! Generally reflected in the color and molecular weight difference above!

3. Bulk polymerization is an efficient production process! The ingredients are usually placed in a special plastic film! Then react into blocks, take them out and smash them, and then filter them into solids. Generally, the purity of solid acrylic resin produced by this method is the highest! Its product stability is also the best, but its shortcomings are also great! The polymerization of acrylic resin and benzene is not strong for solvent solubility! Sometimes, the solubility of the same monomer with the same suspension polymerization ratio is several times lower! And the dispersion of pigment is not as good as the suspension polymerization of acrylic resin!

4. Other polymerization methods are solvent reactions, and the solvent reacts together as intermediates! Desolvent after the reactor is in good condition! With acrylic monomers (methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, n-butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, n-butyl methacrylate, etc.) as basic components, the crosslinked network structure of insoluble and insoluble acrylic polymers is adopted.
